Welcome to our world of bouldering passion and adventure! We are Steve Fernandes and Dionísio Silva, two climbers on a mission to transform the bouldering landscape of Madeira Island. Our journey began with a dream, a pair of brushes, and an unwavering desire to create an accessible and captivating bouldering experience for all.
Countless hours, days, and even seasons have been devoted to clearing out boulder sectors in Madeira Island. With determination in our hearts, we embarked on the arduous task of removing vegetation, rocks, and debris to create safe and exhilarating bouldering opportunities. Each painstaking moment was driven by our unwavering belief in the transformative power of climbing and its ability to connect people with nature.
Our dream of establishing an accessible bouldering location for everyone started taking shape as we toiled, sweatted, and dreamed amidst the rugged landscapes of Madeira Island.
It was during these transformative days that a kindred spirit and fellow climber, Edgar Moya, pointed us in the direction of the now named “Cidrão Inferior” Boulder Sector, where he spotted a giant boulder that he believed could be climbed.
In honor of Edgar’s pivotal role in shaping our journey, we namd the most iconic boulder after him. “Moya Paça” stands as a testament to the spirit of collaboration, inspiration, and dedication that drives us forward. It symbolizes the inclusive and welcoming nature of our climbing community, a place where climbers of all levels can test their skills and forge unforgettable memories.
